An AI Instagram Carousel Workflow for App Marketing

An Instagram carousel is closer to a small landing page than a pile of social graphics.

It has:

  • a promise;
  • information architecture;
  • proof;
  • visual hierarchy;
  • a conversion path;
  • accessibility requirements;
  • a permanent place on the profile.

Generating eight images is the easy part.

The workflow below is designed for app teams that want repeatable output without turning the account into a content mill.

1. Assign one job

Choose:

  • teach a workflow;
  • explain a feature;
  • compare approaches;
  • diagnose a problem;
  • show proof;
  • answer an objection;
  • present a template.

Example:

Diagnose why app marketers produce many AI UGC files but learn nothing from them.

Desired action:

Read the production-lineage guide.

Do not ask the same carousel to create awareness, explain six features, collect comments, drive an install, and book a sales call.

2. Create an evidence pack

For a product carousel:

  • current product screenshots;
  • product claims;
  • customer evidence with permission;
  • analytics definitions;
  • brand language;
  • prohibited claims;
  • source links;
  • disclosure requirements.

For a thought-leadership carousel:

  • primary sources;
  • internal examples;
  • counterargument;
  • important uncertainty;
  • publication date.

The reasoning model may organize the pack. It must not manufacture the missing proof.

3. Write a card outline

Use jobs before copy:

Build the first deck in Ghostfeed

4. Make every card independently legible

Each card should contain:

  • one idea;
  • one visual role;
  • enough context to understand it;
  • a reason to continue.

Avoid:

  • sentences broken arbitrarily across three cards;
  • "wait for it";
  • card two that only says "here's why";
  • background images unrelated to the point;
  • microscopic footnotes used to hide a claim.

Card one:

"500 AI videos a day" usually counts exports, not ideas.

Card two:

One concept can become 24 deployments without creating 24 learnings.

Card three:

Count concepts, variants, assets, and deployments separately.

Every card advances the argument.

5. Define the visual system

The visual system should support the argument, not decorate it.

6. Generate scenes, not finished posters

Use an image model for:

  • creator scenes;
  • original illustrations;
  • backgrounds;
  • objects;
  • visual metaphors;
  • controlled reference variations.

Use deterministic layout code for:

  • exact copy;
  • typography;
  • line breaks;
  • product screenshots;
  • logos;
  • footnotes;
  • disclosures;
  • card numbers;
  • safe areas.

Why:

  • copy remains editable;
  • spelling is reliable;
  • accessibility text can come from source;
  • localization does not require a new image;
  • brand typography stays consistent;
  • a claim change does not trigger a full rerender.

Generated text inside images should be treated as untrusted.

7. Keep product proof first-party

Do not ask an image model to hallucinate your UI.

Editing order:

  2. reduce it to card jobs;
  3. write card copy;
  4. render at phone size;
  5. cut again.

Rules I use:

  • one claim per card;
  • concrete nouns;
  • short labels;
  • no empty scene-setting;
  • numbers only when sourced;
  • no "game-changing";
  • no "unlock";
  • no fake confession from an AI creator.

Bad:

In today's rapidly evolving digital landscape, brands need to leverage cutting-edge AI solutions.

Better:

Your bottleneck is not generation. It is deciding which asset deserves another version.

9. Add accessibility at source

Store:

  • card copy as text;
  • concise image description;
  • reading order;
  • link destination;
  • meaningful alt text where publishing tools support it.

Check:

  • color contrast;
  • type size;
  • information not encoded only by color;
  • captions for any embedded video;
  • screen-reader-friendly caption summary;
  • acronyms expanded where needed.

Do not put essential evidence only in tiny screenshot text.

10. Run three reviews

Editorial

  • Does the argument hold?
  • Is the example real?
  • Does each card advance?
  • Is the counterargument handled?
  • Is the CTA proportionate?

Visual

  • Does the cover read as a thumbnail?
  • Is the hierarchy clear?
  • Are references consistent?
  • Are crops safe?
  • Does the sequence feel like one system?

Risk

  • Rights documented?
  • Claims supported?
  • AI disclosure handled?
  • Product UI current?
  • Customer data removed?
  • No confusing imitation?

Approval applies to a specific carousel version.

11. Build the caption as a companion

The caption can:

  • state the thesis;
  • add context that did not fit;
  • cite sources;
  • identify limitations;

It should not repeat every card verbatim.

Do not use cloud-phone farms, proxy/location deception, artificial engagement, or account networks intended to bypass platform controls.

One brand can have multiple legitimate accounts. Each should have a truthful role and an accountable owner.

13. Measure the assigned job

If the job is education:

  • qualified saves;
  • product-related replies;
  • profile visits;
  • return visits;
  • downstream article reads.

If the job is acquisition:

  • landing-page visits;
  • installs;
  • activation;
  • paid conversion;
  • incremental lift.

If the job is objection handling:

  • sales-team reuse;
  • change in objection frequency;
  • qualified conversations;

Raw reach is diagnostic, not the universal goal.

14. Learn by card function

Preserve:
